Hoeness claimed that Bayern became an average club under Thomas Tuchel in the 2023-24 campaign as they finished the season without winning any trophies. While the 73-year-old appreciated the team's rise in form under new manager Kompany, he issued a warning to the Belgian coach as the 2024-25 season reaches its business end.

Speaking on Bavarian Broadcasting program , Hoeness said: "Last year was an absolute disaster. We became an average team and ended up third. That's pretty much the worst thing that could happen to FC Bayern. You can't compare last year's situation with this one. We have to be careful not to take the German championship, which we hope to win, for granted."

Bayern are currently leading the Bundesliga title race by six points and, with just five matches to go in the season, Kompany's men are deemed favourites to reclaim the title. In the Champions League, however, the German giants have their work cut out as they trail 2-1 in their two-legged Champions League quarter-final fixture against Inter.
