Jones produces outrageous skillWhite commits agricultural foulLiverpool run out 2-0 winnersWHAT HAPPENED?

Having dispossessed white in the corner in the first half, Jones tried to get past his man with an exquisite 'scoop turn' – but the Gunners defender had no intention of letting him pass.

As the midfielder went to accelerate beyond him, White completely ignored the ball and shoved him down with two hands on his chest. Despite the agricultural nature of the challenge, the Arsenal man avoided a yellow card.

Having been flattened by his opponent, it would be Jones who had the last laugh as Liverpool eventually ran out 2-0 winners at the Emirates Stadium. A Jakub Kiwior own goal and stoppage-time thumper from Luis Diaz sent their Premier League title rivals packing from the FA Cup at the first hurdle.

Arsenal were made to pay for some profligate finishing, with Kai Havertz particularly disappointing in attack.

Top-of-the-table Liverpool will hope the result gives them a psychological edge in the title race, while goal-shy Arsenal suddenly find themselves in poor form and in need of a swift turnaround. It remains to be seen whether they will address their flaws in the transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp's side are back in cup action in midweek at home to Fulham before a winter break, while Arsenal don't play again until January 20.
